Okay, God. You know we love you. You know we respect you. You know we honor you. You know we reverence you. You know we understand that you are sovereign. But sometimes we just need answers. This is one of those times, Lord.
Today's prayer is for those who know they heard you, but are having a hard time holding on. Today's prayer is for those who believe you but are having a hard time holding on. We are not casting away our confidence, Lord, but it seems like each day it's more of a push to hold fast to our profession of faith. Each day it seems as if the crap is never-ending. We know it's a trick of the enemy. We know it's a test. We know all your promises are yea and amen. Lord, we believe, but help our unbelief.
Help us, Lord, because today doesn't look anything like the future you promised us. Help us because our families today don't even closely resemble the families you promised. Help us because our finances today are far from the increase and prosperity you promised. Help us because our spouses today aren't acting anything like you promised. Help us because our bodies today don't look and feel anything like the health and wholeness you promised. Help us because our ministries today don't look like they will ever be what you promised. Help us, Lord.
Help us continue to cast down imaginations and every high thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of who you are. Help us continue to hope against hope. Help us continue to stand on your Word in spite of how it looks; in spite of how it feels; in spite of what people say. Help us continue to stand on your Word even when no one else will stand; even when we are ridiculed for standing. Lord, you said the unbelief of some does not make null your faithfulness, so if no one else believes with us -- we will still believe.
But we need to hear from you, Lord. We really need to hear from you.
We're not throwing out fleeces like Gideon. If you give a sign of confirmation that's great, but just another Word, Lord. Another Word to confirm is what we need. Make it plain, Lord. Give clarity, Lord. Another Word from you will enable us to run a little further. Another Word from you will enable us to stand a little taller.
Speak to us, Lord. We are not wrong in what we ask. You revisited Israel with prophet after prophet to confirm and reconfirm the Promise of the Messiah. You revisited Israel with prophet after prophet with the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey. We are not asking you to do anything new. We are not asking you to do anything outside your character. We are asking you to just remind us again, Lord. We are asking for another glimpse of what shall be. We don't have to know the whole story. We don't have to know every detail of your plan. We're just asking for another glimpse at the highlight reel, Lord.
We are trying our best not to get weary in well-doing, Lord. We are trying our best to smile when we really just want to cry. We are trying our best to stay excited before the people when all we really want to do is shrink into the corner or crawl back into bed and pull the covers over our heads. Lord, we are trying. We are really trying. But the only way we're going to be able to keep this up is with another Word and another touch from you.
Help us, God.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
